Bhubneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended the Raising Day function of 9th Special Indian Reserve Battalion which will have its base in Kalahandi and provide security cover for construction of vital roads, bridges and culverts in LWE affected areas. Prior to the 9th, eight IR battalions and two Special IR Battalion have been raised to tackle LWE extremism in the state. The new outfit will fill up critical gaps in existing operational preparedness as well as development of infrastructure in the affected areas.
He congratulated the 490 security personnel recruited by State Selection Board to raise the battalion and lauded adoption of online application process for the first time in State Police.
Mentioning large number of posts created in Police, Fire Service and Prisons, he emphasized creation of employment opportunities for youth in both Government and private sector as top priority for state Government.
