Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik asked officials to complete reconstruction works within deadline

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today held a review meeting at the secretariat here in the aftermath of cyclone Titli and subsequent flood and directed concerned officials to complete the reconstruction works within the fixed deadline.

The high-level meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, development commissioner, special relief commissioner and other departmental officials.
The CM directed officials to complete the restoration works of road, drinking water, electricity and assessment of damages at the earliest.

“Five days later, independent observers will be sent to the affected areas to inspect the progress of the renovation and reconstruction works,” Naveen added.

According to the discussion in the meeting, all roads belonging to the public works department have been renovated and made communicable. Similarly, the works related to the renovation of rural development department roads, breaches in canals and minor irrigation projects are nearing completion. The works will be completed within four-five days.

Power supply has been restored in most of the areas of Rayagada district barring some remote areas. Electricity connection to all gram panchayat offices will be restored within four days.

A sum of Rs 1,000 in cash, 50 kg rice and 2.5 litres kerosene have been provided to the affected persons as special relief. Besides, the additional financial aids will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer (DBT), sources said.
