Odisha Chief Minister inaugurates NTPC Sundargarh Medical College & Hospital

Sundargarh: A 200 bedded COVID Health Care Center established at NTPC Sundargarh Medical College & Hospital was inaugurated today by Hon. CM, Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik through Video Conference. in the presence of Sh. Dharrmendra Pradhan, Cabinet Minister (GOI),Sh. Asit Tripathy, Chief Secretary Odisha, Sh. V.K. Pandian , Private Secretary to CM& Secretary (5T). Shri Sanjeev Kishore NTPC Regional Executive Director, Shri S.K.Satya, CGM -Darlipali, District Collector, Sundergarh Shri Nikhil Pavan Kalyan , IAS, and CDMO Sundergarh , Dr S.K.Mishra also graced the occasion.
NTPC Ltd., as a committed and socially responsible corporate, has taken up the prestigious project of establishing Medical College & Hospital at Sundargarh to promote medical education & serve the community through health care. The project is taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 418 Cr under R&R plan of NTPC-Darlipali (2X800 MW) Power Project and subsequent MOU signed with Government of Odisha on 13th December,2013.
The Medical College is proposed to have intake of 100 students per batch & hospital will have ultimate capacity of 500 beds.
The present infrastructure being put to use is part of the hospital facilities which has been developed on emergent basis to accommodate 200 beds to cater to the need of isolation requirement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Other facilities of hospital blocks and medical college are under advance stages of completion and are targeted to be handed over by Jul’2020.
The other facilities shall include residential facilities for Dean and MS, Professors (40 nos.), accommodation for non-teaching staff (20 nos.), Hostel facilities Resident Doctors (90 Nos.), students including interns (480 nos.), Hostel for Nurses.
The hospital will be equipped with WTP, STP, ETP and water harvesting facilities.
This will be one of the biggest healthcare facilities in the western Odisha and shall primarily be beneficial to the people of Odisha in the area of medical education and healthcare.
