Baripada: The Mayurbhanj Special Judge Court here on Monday sent BJP Mayurbhanj district president Krushna Chandra Mohapatra and three other party leaders to jail after they surrendered before the court in connection with the case of assault on Jamsola check-gate staffs last year.
The court also rejected the bail plea moved by Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Chotalal Mahanta, Nihar Modi and Prakash Agarwal during the hearing of the case. Mohapatra along with some associates in May 2016, had allegedly abused the then STO Kulamani Bhoi at the Jamsola check gate in filthy language and also passed casteist remarks. Besides, the BJP leaders assaulted the check gate staff and issued life threats.
