Odisha: BJD retains Jagatsinghpur Zilla Parishad, emerges victory in 22 zones out of 26, BJP 3, Cong 1

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: The state ruling BJD was retained Jagatsinghpur Zilla Parishad and emerged victorious in 22 ZP zones out of 26 went to polls, for the first time BJP opened its account in 3 ZP zones, sadly congress was satisfied with 1 ZP zone in Balikuda, as official ZP elections vote counting held in several blocks on Saturday.
The BJD emerged victory in Biridi, Jagatsinghpur, Naugaon, Tirtol and Erasama blocks where party captured all ZP seats by defeating its Congress and BJP rivals, when in Raghunathpur block 2 ZP zones BJP and BJD shared 1 seat each, in Balikuda block 4 ZP seats BJD occupied in ZP zones 2, 3 and 4 and congress emerged victorious in ZP zone 1, its candidate Mahani Charan Rout defeated BJD aspirant Rabindra Mohapatra by margin of above 700 votes.
Out of 4 ZP zones in Kujanga block saffron party BJP opened its account in ZP zone 3 and 4 and BJD candidates declared win in ZP seat 1 and 3. Moreover in Raghunathpur block out of 2 ZP seats, BJP candidate Ashok Moharana defeated his BJD contestant by margin of 1660 votes in ZP seat 1, BJD candidate Dejalin Mohapatra defeated her BJP rival by slender margin of 72 votes in ZP seat 2.
 The BJD had also put up a splendid performance in Jagatsinghpur block out 4 seats the party captured 4 when its candidates Manju Mallick, Jagannath Muduli, Kiranabala Sasmal and Bilasisni Devi officially declared elected on Saturday as counting held in Jagatsinghpur block. Similarly in Biridi block congress relegated to the second position in ZP polls when BJD candidates won in ZP zones 1 and 2.
