Bhubaneswar: BJD MLAs stage dharna near the Gandhi statue inside the Odisha Assembly premises protesting against Baijayant Panda & Abhijit Iyer Mitra for allegedly making distasteful remarks on Konark Sun Temple.
The ruling BJD party members have demanded the arrest of Abhijit Iyer Mitra, alleging that the remarks were distasteful and it hurt sentiments of the people of Odisha.
In a video which went viral on the social media, Iyar was seen making insensitive and derogatory remarks on the world-famous monument. “This is not a temple, it is a humple,” he said making mockery of belief of lakhs of Odia people.
vulgar remarks“All the statues on the walls here are of women, men and animals. Is this a sacred place. Not at all. This is a conspiracy against the Hindus by Muslims,” Iyer went to say in the video.
Puri police on Monday had sealed the helicopter at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here including the hanger belonging to IMFA which houses the helicopter (VT-BDP). The chopper was sealed following allegations of its landing and flying low over the Chilika bird sanctuary area by Panda.
