Odisha: Biswakarma Puja begins at port town Paradip

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: The famous Biswakarma Puja got off to a colorful start in Paradip 65 km away from here with various organizations and industries putting up their Pandals and celebrating the puja with great religious fervor on Monday.
The Puja will continue for next seven days, cultural programmes, melody, Jatra and stage shows by cine artists will be organized at all the Pandals by the organizers to attract the crowds.


Factories, garages, engineering department of Para dip port trust, with various trade unions have made huge Pandals decorated colorfully across the Paradip Township.
The local police have made elaborate arrangements for traffic and crowd management, CCTV cameras have been installed at various points to keep a vigil on the crowd. Police control room, medical centers, information centers have been opened to help general public. Local civic body Para dip municipality have arranged all civic facilities as supply of electricity, drinking water, public toilets to puja revelers.


Para dip town is famous for its Biswakarma Puja with rituals being observed for a week, in mid-sixties people from different communities joined hands and started the Puja aiming to establish communal harmony among residents.
