Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Budget Session begins with Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal’s address. Addressing the House, Governor Ganeshi Lal says, “Odisha has set an example on how to tackle natural disasters. The margin of financial growth has touched heights. Bhubaneswar emerged at the top in Smart city challenge.”

‘KALIA’ scheme launched by the State Government will be immensely helpful in farmers’ development, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana benefitting people, says Governor.

“Odisha’s transformational journey since 2000 has been remarkable. The state is now recognized for having set global benchmarks in the disaster management,” the Governor said in his address to the House.

“Now, we are an agriculturally progressive state which has won KRISHI KARMAN Award five times during the last seven years. In fact, Odisha is the only state in the country which has doubled farmers’ income in real terms in the last one decade,” he added.

Speaking about food grain production, he said, “Now the state is among the largest contributeros to the PDS and is playing a major role in the food security of the nation.”

Ganeshi Lal said Odisha has made a quantum jump by achieving the sharpest decline in infant mortality rate (IMR) and better than the national average decline in maternal mortality rate (MMR).

Odisha’s performance in many sectors has been phenomenal. It is now the leading state in the country in rural housing having completed a record 20 lakh houses since 2014, he added.
