Odisha: Anupriya Lakra from Malkangiri district becomes pilot

Bhubaneswar: Tribal girl Anupriya Lakra from naxal infested Malkangiri district becomes pilot. Anupriya hails from the Swabhiman area of Malkangiri, she is the first tribal girl to become a pilot.27-year-old Anupriya Madhumita Lakra from Odisha becomes first tribal woman to fly commercial plane. Anupriya’s father Mriniyas Lakra is a Havildar in the Odisha police.

Anupriya with sheer determination and hard work, has land a job as an aviation pilot. Anupriya enrolled herself at the Government Aviation Training Institute (GATI) in Bhubaneswar in 2012. The tribal girl dreamt big very early. After moving to Semiliguda to complete her HSC Examinations from the Jeevan Jyoti School, she went to the Sundargarh College to complete her intermediate studies. The young girl had set her eyes on the sky. With support from family and relatives, she shifted to Bhubaneswar for higher studies.

Anupriya recently got an offer to work with a private airline as a co-pilot. She would be initially posted at Singapore. Hailing from a modest background, funding her higher studies was a challenge.
