Odisha: 7 persons arrested in Paradip for duping a man with Hanuman coin

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: Paradip police arrested 7 persons on the charges of duping Rs28 Lakh from a man on the pretext of giving Hanuman coin. Meanwhile cops recovered about Rs 12 Lakh and 5o thousand cash from the alleged accused persons and forwarded them to court on Saturday, informed police.
According to reports said that one Sandeep Krishna Das a business man from Cuttack had lodged a complaint with Lockpada police station in Paradip stating he had been dumped Rs 28 Lakh by about seven persons those had promised him to give a Hanuman coin.
According to the business man complaint he had been introduced by the alleged cheaters through telephonic conversation later the deal had been finalized in a Bhubaneswar based hotel at Rs 35 Lakh and he had been instructed to come Kujanga along with the cash for exchange of the coin.
Acting on the deal Sandeep reached Kujanga with cash Rs 28 Lakh where he had been received by one Manoranjan Samal alias Babu who took him to a site of a construction company at Bhutamundei.
The victim was introduced by the coin owner and other accomplices those told him giving the cash but Sandeep became reluctant as consequence they snatched away the cash bag containing Rs 28 Lakh and fled from the spot.
Soon after the incident victim Sandeep had informed local lockpada police station regarding the cheating, who acted promptly sent two police teams to Jatani and Bhubaneswar nabbing the accused persons.
Police probe into the incident following the complaint earned success, cops picked up 7 persons and cash of Rs 12 Lakh from their possession in diffirent locations and brought them to Paradip on Saturday.
According to the additional superintendent of police Para dip Bishnu Charan Mishra informed that people believe that the Hanuman coins have magical powers which change the destiny for which they spend huge amounts to procure it. Sandeep was trapped by similar concept as consequence being captured by the alleged cheaters, ASP Mishra informed.
Meanwhile cops have disclosed the names of the alleged cheaters as Amulya Swain, Bibhuti Swain, Manoranjan Samal, Sudhir Biswas, Prashant Pradhan and Basanta Lenka from Bhubaneswar, Jatani and on the outskirts of Paradip.[Ends]
