Odia designer Madhusmita Panda felicitated at 3rd Nirbhaya Samaroh in Delhi


New Delhi: Nationally-acclaimed Odia fashion designer and founder of the Weaver Ants designer house Madhusmita Panda was felicitated at the 3rd Nirbhaya Samaroh held in Delhi on Tuesday for her contribution in raising awareness on women’s issues through her textile designs. Union Cabinet Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, noted poet & Lok Sabha member Dr. Prasanna Patasani and renowned dancer Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh felicitated Mrs. Madhusmita Panda.

Mrs. Madhusmita Panda has been widely applauded for her innovative designs in India and abroad. Her designer house Weaver Ants, based in Odisha and Bangalore, is credited for creating nuanced patterns in clothing and apparels to sensitize buyers on gender justice and intricate women issues.

The Nirbhaya Samaroh founded by renowned women activist and founder of Honour for Women National Campaign Mrs. Manasi Pradhan is held once in every two years in Delhi to raise awareness on women’s rights. The festival is globally curated as one of its kind.

The 3rd Nirbhaya Samaroh held at the prestigious India International Centre was attended by dignitaries from India and abroad including noted bollywood actress Shabana Azmi, renowned environmentalist Dr. Vandana Shiva, renowned educationist Padma Shri Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath, Head of ICICI Bank Padma Bhushan Chanda Kochhar, eminent feminist Dr. Kamla Bhasin, renowned dancer Padma Shri Dr. Geeta Chandran, several foreign ambassadors and senior diplomats and leaders from diverse fields.
