Kaniha: With novel Corona virus forcing extended periods of lockdowns all over the country, NTPC Talcher Kaniha is escalating measures to prevent the spread of the disease. With a mass sanitization drive in its Township and adjoining areas, procurement of various essential medical equipment like ventilators, private protective equipment(PPE), sanitisers, gloves at its Hospital has been undertaken, creation of “COVID Corner”, separate isolation wards in the Hospital, the Station is taking every step to ensure preparedness to tackle Covid-19. The medical team is being trained from NTPC Corporate Medical group to deal with COVID-19 affected patients and is being apprised of the medical guidelines and advisories from the Government.
The Station is now proactively providing and distributing masks to all its employees, contract workers, associates, CHC Kaniha & BDO office for distribution among needy persons. Following health advisories of the Odisha Government, which has made it mandatory to wear masks in public, NTPC Talcher Kaniha is steadfastly distributing cotton masks to various villages like Gadasila, Rangabeda, Hariharpur etc. Notably, to ensure social distancing, the masks are being directly provided to the village heads for distribution among their respective villages in order to avoid any crowd during distribution.
Till date, over 10,000 masks have been distributed to various villages and district administration as part of the CSR initiative of the Station. In addition, employees are participating in voluntary contribution for distribution of grocery items to needy villagers and labourers. Till date 480 families have been benefited by the noble initiative of employees. To maintain hygiene, hand wash basin with liquid hand-wash & soaps are placed at various locations of the Station to facilitate regular hand wash by employees and contractual workers. Thermal scanning is being ensured at various Entry Gates of the Plant by CISF personnel for all employees and contract workers. To spread awareness on COVID 19 prevention, posters were displayed at prominent locations and regular interaction through visits by COVID 19- Task Force Members is done to raise awareness on maintaining social distancing and use of masks etc.
