Kaniha: NTPC Talcher Kaniha undertook a massive cleanliness drive as a part of Swachhta Rally to commemorate 150 th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi today. The Swachhta rally was organized from the township area, Shiv Parvati Park to Bypass Chowk. Executive Director, Shri Ramesh Babu V took the lead in the rally along with other senior officials and employees. Caps, hand gloves, cotton bags were provided to all participants for the collection and disposal of the garbage during the rally which was later handed over to the Civil Department for disposal.
The highlight of the rally was the students Sarasvati Shishu Vidya Mandir (SSVM) School who marched the rally with a drum beating and students dressed as Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri to the day very special.
Locals and shopkeepers in the area took active notice of the Swachhta Rally and were provided cotton bags along with pamphlets to increase awareness and stimulate public action on No plastic and cleanliness. A pledge ceremony was organized in front of the plant gate, well known as Bypass Chowk to propagate Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign. On the occasion, Executive Director, Shri Ramesh Babu V addressed the huge gathering and distributed 40 dustbins to Market Committee members. He further appealed to all shopkeepers and locals to sustain this effort on a long term basis. He emphasized that we all must strive to keep our environment clean and free of plastic.
