Kaniha: NTPC Kaniha Lighting Up Lives through installation solar street lights under its CSR initiative .The solar street lights are installed keeping in view of formal requests received from respective village representatives & need assessment survey report. Recently the power station has installed 96 nos. solar lights in the nearby villages of NTPC Kaniha power station for convenience during night time.
Solar street lights were has installed in 35 villages around the power station namely Bijigol,Bhimkand,Derang,Rangabeda,Gadasila,Karadei,Kateni,Mgrlineline,Patharmunda,Kaniha,Takua,Sarathipal,Tolakbeda,Mgr,- bye pass road Masunihata,,Badahira,Kaniha,Saradhapur,Ambapal,Lodhabanda,Gandaberena,Bijigol,Bhimkand,Rangabeda, Patharmunda,Takua,Sarathipal,Durgapur,Hariharapur,Kundheigola,Kakudia & Gadasila etc.
The initiative intends to facilitate safety & smooth communication during night time and will result into fewer accidents. All the prominent areas, school premises and market places were taken into consideration for the installation of solar lights.
This is one of the flagship programme of NTPC Kaniha which is being appreciated by various stakeholders.As part of promoting renewable energy i.e solar energy the power station runs 10 MW solar plant at its plant and township area and installed 60 Kwp Rooftop Solar PV system at its administrative building.
