NTPC Talcher Kaniha generated 22639 MU with PLF of 86.86% till March 2017

Kaniha : A media interaction with Kaniha reporters was organised on 29.03.2017 at NTPC Talcher Kaniha.Shri Debassis Sarkar,Group General Manager,Talcher Kaniha addressed the august media gathering .

Speaking to the media gathering, Shri Sarkar said that “Talcher Kaniha has generated 22639 MU with PLF of 86.86% till 28.03.2017. Up to February 2017, TSTPS Kaniha is at 6th position (All India Rank) with a PLF of 86.55% & it ranked 4th the among NTPC plants.
Shri Sarkar said “present installed capacity of NTPC is 49,998 MW (including 6,966 MW through JVs/Subsidiaries) comprising of 46 NTPC Stations (19 Coal based stations, 7 combined cycle gas/liquid fuel based stations, 1 Hydro based station), 9 Joint Venture stations (8 coal based and one gas based) and 10 renewable energy projects with solar power generation capacity of 620 MW.

“NTPC plans to be a 130 GW company by 2032 with diversified fuel mix and a 600 BU company in terms of generation. Non-fossil fuel based capacity would achieve a share of 30% and Thermal-based generating capacity share would be 70%. Share of Renewable (including hydro) would be 28%. NTPC will have 10,000 MW of solar power by 2022. NTPC is looking at 1,000 MW of wind power” said Shri Sarkar

NTPC has exceeded the 12th Plan capacity addition target of 11,920 MW by adding 12,840 MW, the highest ever capacity addition in any 5-year plan by the company, said Shri Sarkar.

Further, he added NTPC Kaniha is getting good support from MCL for coal linkage from Lingraj Mines and Kaniha Mines. NTPC Talcher Kaniha is providing cheap power to various eastern and southern states.

Under CSR NTPC Kaniha is keen to undertake huge plantation in and around the power station particularly at Ash Dyke area to increase vegetation. He made an appeal to the locals to support the plantation drive for promoting greenery.NTPC Kaniha is also associating with district administration to enhance tree plantation.

He shared NTPC Kaniha is committed to safety and security of the employees and contractual workers working in the power station. He shared numerous initiatives taken by the power station i.e compulsory use of crash helmets by employees & health check up of the workforce to avoid accidents.

Taking on NTPC Kaniha expansion he said the proposal has been sent to Corporate Centre for approval. He said the land is required for the new ash pond.He added that NTPC Kaniha management is in talks with the district and state authority for providing land for the new ash pond which is important for the functioning of the power station.
