Talcher: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary was celebrated today by NTPC Talcher Kaniha as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas as a tribute to India’s first home minister. Employees and officials gathered around in the Township ground where Shri Sudip Nag, CGM NTPC Talcher Kaniha, administered the Unity Pledge to the gathering. A walkathon on the theme “Run for Unity” was also organized where senior officials, employees, school children and representatives of Union and Association took part in high spirits.
The day marks the 144th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who led the task of integrating princely states into the union of India post Independence in 1947.
