Balasore: NOCCi is taking the first step towards its mission of planting 10,000 trees, this monsoon. This tree plantation program is a great opportunity for us to show our concern for the environment and help diminish the unfavorable effects of climate change.
NOCCi’s tree-planting initiative as “Raise More, Plant More this Rains of 2019”, in collaboration with CIPET:CSTS, Balasore was held on 17th August 2019 at 11 am at CIPET premises, Bampada.
Shri K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy, IAS, Collector & DM, Balasore and Ms. Rasmita Panda, IAS, Director of Employment-Cum-CEO, OSDA, Odisha were the Guest of Honour and Chief Guest respectively and they inaugurated the program by planting some saplings .
Speaking at the ceremony, Shri K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy said trees were an investment for the future generations to provide cleaner air to breathe. He said planting trees is a noble cause to benefit the generations to come. He said as a result of climate change and global warming, Environmental pollution and temperature is increasing every day with highest deforestation rate, he pointed out, saying trees could serve as green shelter during extreme climate conditions thus, making the earth cooler for animal and human life. Plants to earth are like lungs to the human body, he stressed.
Ms. Rasmita Panda hoped that the tree plantation drive would keep continuing, and that everyone would take responsibility to look after the planted trees.
Different varieties of saplings were planted by the NOCCi members, Teachers & Students of CIPET at the campus of CIPET.
