Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister Bihar to attend celebrations of All India Mithila Sangha in Delhi

New Delhi: Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar will grace the Golden Jubilee celebrations of All India Mithila Sangha – the day day-long celebration scheduled to take place at Capital’s Talkatora Stadium on 24th December 2017. President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind has already assured to bless the celebrations with his presence. The celebrations aimed at showcasing the rich cultural, heritage and history of Mithila – the northern part of Bihar bordering Nepal – will also be joined by Puri Shankaracharya Shri Nischalanand Saraswati and other dignitaries from several walks of lives.

Earlier today, a delegation of All India Mithila Sangha in the leadership of its President Shri Prabhat Jha Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha met Chief Minister Shri Kumar in person to extend the invitation to the program. Accepting the invitation, Shri Kumar extended his warm wishes and for the successful organisation of the event.

Speaking about the event and the role it has played over the years in showcasing the rich culture and history of Mithila, Shri Prabhat Jha said, “It will be an important event for all of us. Mithila has a unique place in the history of India and it is our duty to showcase and promote its diverse culture, history and heritage to the world. With the blessings of the Honorable President and Honorable Chief Minister of Bihar, we are sure that we will be able to preserve and showcase our culture to the world.”

Founder member of the association and current President Mr. Vijay Chandra Jha, while highlighting the role played by
Mithila Sangh in ensuring growth and prosperity of Mithila and Bihar, said, “Our constant struggle from the platform of Mithila Sangha resulted in the inclusion of Maithili language in the eighth schedule of the constitution and bring it at [‘]
par with the other 22 official languages in the country. We have successfully ensured improved railway connectivity in remote areas of Mithilanchal and establishment of a Maithili-Bhojpuri Academy in Delhi. Mithila Sangha is committed and has been constantly advocating issues for the upliftment of Mithilanchal for last 50 years with various forums.”

Mithila Sangh is also instrumental in providing opportunities to local artists at national and international levels and is recognized for creating awareness about its distinct culture and tradition.

Over the past few decades, All India Mithila Sangha’s annual ceremony has evolved as major social, cultural and regional event which has witnessed the participation by top Indian leaders like, Shri Shankar Dayal Sharma, 9th President of India, Mohammad Hidayatullah, 6th Vice President of India, Shri Chandra Shekhar Singh, 8th Prime Minister of India, apart from several prominent Lok Sabha Speakers, Chief Minister of various Indian States, Honorable Ministers from Government of India and states, prominent religious leaders and great artists from various fields.
