Report by Pabitramohan Senapaty; Bhubaneswar : At a time when both parliament and state assembly election is approaching the Cuttack Municipal Corporation election result is considered to have importance on winning parties and effect impact on parties which lost.
The civic body election that held in Cuttack and Baripada on February 6, was reported to be smooth and fair. The result announced on Saturday shows BJD by winning 37 corporator seats out of 54 in Cuttack and 14 just halp of total 28 in Baripada has already streched its governance roots into the deepest layer of the State�s Political soil. This last civic election before general polls also forecastes Naveen will cerainly come to power for the third consecutive term.
BJD has not only stolen the election show in Cuttack ank Baripada, it has also proved to be the peoples party in winning most of the civic body elections including state capital city of Bhubaneswar held last year. It won 40 seats that is almost two third majority, out of total 64. Not to amuse,BJD even won as a single largest party in communal violence hit district of Kandhamal NAC election held in December last. So it is another example of BJD roots going into the deep of the political soil.
According to a vendor who sells vegetables at Chatrabazar in Cuttack� Naveen has becom the most popular cheif minister in our state. There is no leader in any other party who can be rated at par with him� . Be it cc roads in the remote villages, bridges over rivers or supply of rice at Rs 2/kg to BPL families are the best of pro-peoples� programmes we have ever seen�, he added.
Only Naveen is in our mind. He can be the real chariotor of the states� progress Rath. He will certainly lead a government for the consecutive third time, says an rikshaw puller of Cuttack.
In Cuttack where BJP had a mayor last time has got only 2 corporators this time. congress has got 8. In Baripada BJP has grasped 7 councillors while JMM 4 and congress 1.
