National Fire Service Day observes in IOCL Paradip

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: National Fire Service Week was held at South Fire Station of IOCL, Paradip. The programme was commenced by paying homage to the firemen who sacrificed their lives in the Victoria Dock Yard explosion occurred years back in 1944.
Gouri Shankar Singh, in charge Executive director IOCL, who attended the occasion as chief guest addressed the audience, emphasized that Fire Service is a very critical element, . Gopala Krishna, ED (T) spoke about the importance of the day and praised the Fire Service personnel for their exemplary service.
Speaking on the occasion M. Biswal, Commandant, CISF out lined the importance of emergency situation and its mitigation. He said that the fire incidents should be averted by creating more awareness on Fire Safety among the community.
Nalini Ranjan Patnaik, CGM, and L.N. Phukan, CGM (HS&E) read out the Fire day messages of Chairman, IOCL and Director (Refineries) respectively.
On the side lines of the event a Fire Prevention hand book and Fire Safety pamphlets were released, during the week long programme various events like Evacuation drills in schools, Quiz & Slogan competition among employees, Fire safety awareness training on Home Fire & Safety for house wives, Drawing and essay competition for school children have been proposed to be held.
