NALCO adds Drinking Water Kiosk at Sakhigopal Temple under Swachh Iconic Shrine Project

 

Puri: In a noble step that will benefit pilgrims and public at large, NALCO today launched water posts / kiosks at Sakhigopal Temple under Prime Minister’s Swachh Iconic Place project, adding to the water posts that have been already installed by the Company at various locations in and around Puri.
The installation of water kiosks was inaugurated by NALCO CMD Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand.
Dr. T.K.Chand, CMD, NALCO, said, ‘’This initiative will benefit lakhs of people visiting Puri, and Sakhigopal, especially when the temperature soars during the summer season.’’
The water post installed at Sakhigopal Temple today will provide people access to chilled drinking water. As of now, eleven water kiosks have been provided including three in and around Jagannath Temple, one each at Sakhigopal Temple, Gandhi Park, Satalahari Math, Gundicha Mandir, Gurdwara, near Sea Beach, Sunaragouranga Math and Jagannath Ballav Math.
In keeping with its objective of ensuring all-round development of Puri as a Swachh Iconic Place, NALCO is carrying out a number of activities, including installing solid waste management plant inside and outside Lord Jagannath Temple, development and beautification of Gandhi Park, multi-storeyed car parking at sea beach, development of heritage corridor joining 56 minor monuments, renovation of Niladri Vihar museum inside Jagannath Temple, development of Parikrama in Gundicha Temple, providing access to drinking water at various spots in the city, among other initiatives.
NALCO also has provided 10 battery-operated vehicles for the elderly and specially-abled people service at Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack railway stations and between Jagannath Temple and Jagannath Ballav Math.
