Goal setting is an important method of deciding what needs to be achieved.
Amit Ji has cleverly set a SMART goal of 120+ before #Odisha BJP Karyakartas & leaders. It’s a very well thought strategy which was tested and successful in other states earlier.
It would certainly motivate the leaders and workers to work hard to achieve 120+. As known as a tough task master, he periodically reviews the progress which would force the leaders to show the result on the ground.
When I say SMART, it’s Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound.
To target 120 out of total 147 assembly seats in Odisha seems to be achievable as well as realistic since the election is due in 2019. So the BJP workers will have almost 2 years of time to strategize to achieve the target.
Remember as per the researcher Edwin Locke “Individuals who set specific, difficult goals performed better than those who set general, easy goals”. Here, Mr. Shah is very specific i.e. 120.
It looks to be a difficult task but not impossible either. To fight with mighty Naveen Babu’s BJD, BJP needs an aggressive target to motivate its workers further and probably Mr. Shah has understood it well.
BJD should not take Shah’s challenge lightly and Naveen Babu has carefully expressed that he has doubt in BJP’s goal of getting 120+. Though the young brigade of BJD under the leadership of Naveen Babu claims that they are well prepared to face any challenge from the saffron brigade, opposition Congress is yet to settle their home. Congress is being hurt badly these days for the late decision making. They should follow JIT- Just In Time! Timely decision making creates a huge difference.
In politics number matters. Hence these number games much prior to the election only to create psychological game and confusion among opposition ranks and files. Perhaps this is the strategy best suits for the political strategists of these days.
