Koraput: Throwing an open challenge to Bank authorities over safety and security of ATM machines in the state, unidentified miscreants tried to loot cash from a SBI ATM located in Kunduli Hatapada area under Pattangi police limits in the district last night.
The incident came to fore after a group of locals spotted the ATM located beside NH 26 near Kunduli Hatapada area vandalized this morning. While the monitor of the teller machine was seen broken, its cash dispenser and card readers were also found to be damaged.
After locals called up Pottangi SBI Branch and reported the matter, the bank staffs reached the spot later in the morning and examined the teller machine. Pottangi Police also reached the spot getting intimation on the loot attempt and conducted preliminary investigation.
As per the bank officials the miscreants have failed to steal cash from the ATM despite a Herculean effort. The police were waiting for the CCTV footage and after receiving it, they would get some clues added ; Narahari Nayak ,S.D.P.O,sunabeda.
