Mining Companies to spend 12 million, Odisha Govt to spend 27 million for Tourism development

Report by Malaya Mohapatra; Keonjhar: Operating mining companies have come forward to promote tourism in Keonjhar District. A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of N Thirumala Naik, Collector, keonjhar where representatives from different mining companies attended.

OMC will spent Rs 15 lacs for development of Khandadhar waterfall picnic spot , TATA will spend 25 lacs in Murgamahadeb waterfall, Rs 18 lac to be spent by sirajuddin mines in Handibhanga waterfall, Rungta Mines will spend 80 lacs at Bhimkund tourist spot, Indrani pattnaik mines to spend 30 lacs at Sanaghagra picnic spot, Essar steel will spend 8 lacs at Sidhamath, TP Mohanty mines to spend 22 lacs at Chikinia Park, JSPL to spend 1.5 lacs at Mirigisingha and Indrani Pattnaik was assigned to take up development works at kesari kund tourist spot. The companies have been asked to submit a detail project report(DPR) to the Collector regarding the nature of development work to be undertaken at the respective sites.

A ropeway is proposed to be built from the govt funds at Bhimkhund, while funds to build Tourist rest houses at Gonasika, Handibhanga and Murga mahadeb has been sanctioned by tourism dept, Collector informed. Also Govt has sanctioned 50 lacs for Sanaghagara, 50 lacs for Sitabinj, 30 lacs for Bhimkund, 50 lacs for Gundichaghagi, 30 lacs for Chakra tirtha, 30 lacs for development of Kesari Kund in the financial year 2015-16, he added. Purna Chandra Mishra, Chairman Sanaghagra Develoment Committee briefed about the developments projects already taken up in Sanaghagra Tourist Spot out of its own generated funds.. Keonjhar District has immense tourism potentialities and development of the tourist sports by CSR initiatives will boost the economy, Tourist officer Ramesh Ch Nayak said.
