Bhubaneswar: Agragamee, a Non Govt. organized a “State Level Workshop on Reading and Language Development “ in Tribal areas on 12nd and 13th, Hotel Presidency, Bhubaneswar. Educationist, SMC members, Teachers, Social Activities, Linguist, Policy Makers , practioners, Teacher Educator, from different part of states and out of state attended the two day brain-storming discussion on Quality Education, Curriculum, Problem of teaching first generation students, Role of SMC, NGOs and Govt for Quality Education in Rural School were disuccssed.
Inaugurating the Workshop, Noted Linguistics Padmashree Devi Prasanna Patnaik shared that mother tongue education is the best education for the child. He shared that the Odia language should language of Knowledge and Language of Development. He shared that Child can only develop her creativity and imagination on mother tongue. He anguished that though several steps has taken by the government use mother tongue based education for tribal area, but in practical experience it was not practiced properly at ground level.
Eminent Educationist and writer Ms. Vimala Ramachandran on the talk, share that after Independence, Govt. had appointed several commissions for the development of education of tribal children, and they emphasis on their suggestion on mother tongued based education for children, but it has not take seriously by the govt. She emphasis on need of change of attitude of teachers, importance in how to teach in multi-lingual and multi-class situation in tribal areas. She also call for the development of self-esteem of tribal children at school level.
Mrs. Vidya Das, Joint Director, Agragamee present about the Education Programme implemented in the tribal pocket of Nawarnagpur,, Koraput and Rayagada district.
