Bhubaneswar: Two Plenary, Six Parallel Technical Sessions were conducted in the days long National Media Conclave inaugurated on 21st of this month the second day of the Conclave was successfully organised by Institute of Media Studies, BBSR; KIIT University & Department of Information & Public Relations in the august presence of Media Professionals who attended the event from across the country.
The fourth Plenary session on the theme ” Media Development & Media for Development ” was chaired by Mrs. Julie Thekkudan, Theme lead in Gender Justice of Oxfam. In her address various issues & problems of Women in Indian context & her practical experience dealing with issues in urban as well as rural India were emphasized. She has also beamed the role & contribution of her own organisation that deals with sensitivity women problem. The #MeToo campaign was made to bury under the carpet in the past & women issues receives scant attention in today’s mainstream media, she added.
Sr. Journalist Sandeep Sahu had advocated all the campaigns that are floating in the society against women violence including #MeToo. He also highlighted on the consequences & power of #MeToo campaign & various forums of the society. Dr. Bidubhusan Das, Asst Prof. J&MC, KIIT University had concluded the session with his vote of thanks.
Among other dignitaries renowned Journalist & Columnist Sandeep Sahu had chaired the session. Besides them speakers from different fields like Women Press corporation, South Asian Women in Media & famous Universities had highlighted on various dimensions and issues of status of gender news in mainstream media. The Conclave was attended by 500 students of Journalism & Mass Communication & 52 Presenters.
