Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), in association with National Informatics Centre (NIC), organised a four-day-long training-cum-workshop to familarise coal miners with AEBAS (Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System), which is a key component of the ambitious Digital India Programme of the Government of India..
The programme was inaugurated Mr J.P. Singh, Director (Technical/Operations) in the presence of Mr L. N. Mishra, Director (Personnel) and AEBAS Team of NIC Odisha, headed by Mr A. K. Mohanty, Technical Director and AEBAS State Coordinator, and Shri J. Mohanty, Technical Director, NIC.
In his address, the Director (Technical/Ops) Mr Singh had emphasised on speedy implementation of the system in coalfields.
Director (Personnel) Mr Mishra informed that the AEBAS was already functional at the MCL headquarters and Bhubaneswar Office, and the same would soon be replicated in all the mines and other units of the company.
Mr K S A Selvan, Dy GM (Telecom) and AEBAS Nodal Officer, MCL and Mr Biranchi Das, Sr. Manager (Personnel/IR), from implementation team of the company were also present on the occasion.
Training cum Workshop, which began from September 12, 2017, aims to replacing the conventional register-based attendance with digital system of attendance registration through AEBAS.
Over 22,000 employees on roll of the company and around 15,500 employees of various contractors engaged in MCL will be covered under this system, which will not only be another technological adoption of the rapidly modernising company, but would also help in ensuring about 3,00,000 man hours per day of operations by performing more than 75,000 biometric authentications per day.
