Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) celebrated 72nd Independence Day celebrations with patriotic fervor and gaiety.
Mr JP Singh, Director (Technical/Operations), who was the chief guest on the occasion, hoisted the Tricolour and took salute of marching security contingent.
This year students from various schools participating in the I-day celebrations were excluded from attending the celebrations, following the directives of Odisha government to bar children’s from participation in celebrations due to the forecast of inclement weather by the Met department.
Mr JP Singh also read out the Independence Day message of Mr Anil Kumar Jha, Chairman, Coal India, who is also holding additional charge of MCL.
Prominent among a large number of officers and family members present on the occasion were Mr L N Mishra, Director (Personnel), Mr Munawar Khursheed, IRPF, Chief Vigilance Officer, Mr OP Singh, Director (Technical/Projects and Planning), Mr KR Vasudevan, Director (Finance) and vice-presidents of Jagriti Mahila Mandal Ms Paramjit Kaur, Ms Madhoo Mishra, Ms Naushina Afrin Ali, Ms Padmja Singh and Ms Padmini Vasudevan.
Similar events of flag hoisting were also organised at various units of MCL spread over in Sundergarh, Jhursuguda and Angul districts of Odisha.
