Major eviction cleared along Right Parallel Road connecting Damana and Sainik School

Bhubaneswar: In order to ease the traffic congestion on Nandankanan Road from Jaydev Vihar and other major squares, the State Government’s ambitious plan to have alternate road networks received a major boost today with eviction of a stretch between Damana and Netaji Subhash Enclave.
As per the Central Eviction Monitoring Committee (CEMC) programme, the joint enforcement team consisting the officers and staff of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Commissionerate Police proceeded to the spot for eviction of unauthorised encroachments from the road connecting Sainik School and Daman Chhak around 10.30 am and continued till 4 pm.
It can be mentioned here that the State Government is planning two alternative road networks to address the congestion along the Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan stretch. While the Sainik School-Damana Road comes under the Right Parallel Road, the road from Ekamra Kanan via Niladrivihar would make the Left Parallel Road.
The Left Parallel Master Plan Road from Sainik School to Damana in focus needs lesser interventions as already major portion is still motorable. For the land acquisition of 1,298 decimal private land the State Government has deposited Rs 8.34 crore with the Khurda District Administration. Today’s CEMC eviction was carried out following requisition made by Executive Engineer Division I of BDA on October 2.
During eviction 17 asbestos houses and 600 feet long boundary wall were removed/demolished. Three excavators (one from BDA and two from BMC) were engaged during the eviction drive.
During the eviction process today Land Acquisition Officer, BDA Sukanta Kumar Behera, Enforcement Officer-II Pramod Kumar Patro, A.E BDA Sarat Kumar Rout, Liaison officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty and IIC Chandrasekharpur Deepak Mishra were present.
