Madhya Pradesh Govt announced 66 Liquor Shops Closed Permanently on Narmada Banks

 

Bhopal : According to the announcement made by the State Government, 66 liquor shops worth Rs. 118 crore have been closed permanently in the year 2017-18 on the banks of Narmada River. Keeping in account the public interest 1352 liquor shops worth Rs. 2086 crore functioning near national and state highways have been shifted to a distance of over 500 meter from the highways.

It may be mentioned that that the state government has received a revenue of over Rs.6343 crore in the year 2017-18 despite odd circumstances during 2016-17, which is 10 percent more in comparison to 2016-17. No new shop has been opened in the state since last 7 years. Regular review of income generated by the state government through excise is being made by the commercial taxes department.
