Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned for the third consecutive day on Tuesday over the delay in appointment of Lokayukta. House was adjourned till 3 PM on Wednesday amidst uproar by Opposition Congress and BJP legislators demanding for the appointment of Lokayukta in the state at the earliest.
As soon as the House met for the day, members from both parties trooped into the well raising slogans in support of their demands. The Opposition MLAs were also seen holding placards levelling corruption charges against Naveen Government.
Both Congress and BJP members had created ruckus yesterday by demanding either a ruling from the Speaker or a clarification from the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard.
Notably, Odisha government is yet to appoint the Lokayukta and implement the Odisha Lokayukta Act even though the Bill has got President’s assent in 2015.
