Limetray launches tech platform to enable local grocery & kirana stores to accept online orders from consumers

Mumbai: Limetray, India’s leading food tech platform and, is rolling-out an online ordering system to enable local grocery, meat as well as local kirana shops to accept customer orders online through its platform. The launch of this specialized technology platform will enable these local grocery, meat and kirana stores to take orders from customers without the need to step into the stores to buy essential provisions, grocery & meat items in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. Limetray is funded by JSW Ventures & Matrix.

According to Mr Akhilesh Bali, Founder & CEO of Limetray, “Our specialized technology platform is an easy to adopt and one of its kind solution to help local grocery, meat & kirana stores to maintain their order volumes by targeting customers online and offering safe contact-less delivery. We are offering the solution free of cost for the first two months of this fiscal to help local stores tide over the challenges of Covid-19 outbreak. We are targeting to onboard more than 1000+ local grocery, meat and kirana stores to use this platform across Tier 1 cities across India.”

The specialized software suite is customized for use of local groceries, meat and kirana stores. Limetray will also aid in increasing online visibility amidst reduced store visits and subsequent fall in overall customer footfalls in the wake of the current pandemic. The technology solution allows consumers in lockdown to place their orders for essential items online, complete the purchase through a payment gateway and helps the local stores to offer contactless delivery options wherein the purchased items are kept outside the door or as per the given instructions by the consumer.

Some of the regional grocery & meat players who have already adopted this platform witnessed multi-fold growth in their online orders during the second fortnight of March 2020 owing to the heavy reliance on online ordering of essential, grocery & meat items that’s delivered to consumers’ homes in a safe contactless manner. Mumbai-based FnV Farms grocery seller witnessed its online orders doubling during this time. Similarly, Meat stores like The Mumbai-based Bombay Meat Company and Noida-based Artisan Meats have witnessed over five-fold rise in online orders in the second fortnight of March 2020 using Limetray’s technology platform.
