Launching of Jana Poshana Programme under the Hunger Free Odisha Initiative

Bhubaneswar: Sri P.K.Mohapatra, IAS, Addl Chief Secretary, R &DM Department of Odisha launched the “Jana Poshana” programme, virtually through Zoom Cloud Meeting. So Am I Foundation Trust under the Hunger Free Odisha Initiative has introduced “Jana Poshana” programme, supported by the M/s MG Mohanty. In the Poshana Programme, it has been planned to provide rations to almost 5000 such families, those are poor but not covered under the Food Security Programme. These families (@4 members/ family) will be provided with all the rations for 15 days to survive during the lockdown period, due to Coronavirus outbreak.
Launching the Jana Posana Initiative virtually from the State Secretariat, the Addl. Chief Secretary, Sri Pradipta Mohapatra told “I am extremely happy to launch such a timely initiative, which will take care of the two time meals of almost 20000 for 15 days, in a non government initiative. I must appreciate the effort of the So Am I Foundation and generosity of the MG Mohanty Firm”
The Volunteers of the Hunger Free Odisha, staff of M/s MG Mohanty helped Mrs Saswati & Mr Umakant Mishra, Former Corporator of Saheed Nagar to distribute rations to 10 families,not covered under the Food Security Programme of Government.
Partner of M/s MG Mohanty, Mr.Tanuj Mohanty told ” Realising the ground reality, due to lockdown, we have decided to be a help for those people who are not getting benefits under the Government Schemes. And we will go a long way with the So Am I Foundation Trust for the Hunger Free Odisha drive”
Co-Founder of the Hunger Free Odisha Initiative, Dr. Chidatmika Khatua informed “we have been serving watermelon, cooked lunch, snacks and dinner to almost 1000 on-duty Police/Traffic Constables, Destitute elderly persons, women, disabled persons and to the stranded migrant labourers, daily, since 24th March 2020 with the support of the OSPHWC, Round Table Club and the Young Indians of Bhubaneswar.
Founder of the Hunger Free Odisha Initiative, Pinaki Mohanty told “During our food distribution, it had come to our knowledge that there are so many poor families ( not included in the Food Security Programme) don’t have food. We realised that Government alone cannot serve those in this time.”

“So Am I” Foundation Trust, a Non-profit Making Organisation registered under the Trust Act. The prime objectives of the Trust are: To spread happiness, to create Food Banks in Odisha in communities to systematically capture and distribute food to reduce hunger and malnutrition; to move towards a Hunger Free Odisha.The Food Bank, Web Portal and the Mobile App has been launched on 18th August 2019. A Food Bank has been inaugurated in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Baripada. The Mobile Food Banks & the “Shradha Arpana” initiative has been launched on 16th January 2020. Currently two Food Banks are operational in Bhubaneswar.The So Am I Foundation Trust in collaboration with the Rotary International District 3262 is going to operate Food Banks in 10 places in Odisha.
