Bhubaneswar: Late Congress heavyweight Lulu Mohapatra’s daughter Upasana Mohapatra and brother Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra today brought an end to all speculations of political pundits in the state by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party at a special function called ‘BJP Mishran Parv’ at Exhibition Ground here.
Besides, a large number of Congress leaders and workers of the Brahmagiri Assembly constituency, several leaders and members of the Lulu Sena, a youth brigade named after the deceased leader, also joined the BJP.
Lalitendu and Upasana said Lulu Mohapatra, who worked for the Congress for 25 long years, had a feeling of being tortured in the party since 2016 and was not participating in any activities of the party.
A number of supporters of late Lulu Mohapatra including members of Lulu Sena also joined the BJP. Senior lawyer Pitambar Acharya and former Youth Congress leader Satyajit Pattnaik also joined the saffron party.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other senior leaders such as BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo and BJP State President Basant Panda were present at the Mishraan Parva.
