JSPL Pledges to Beat Plastic Pollution

Angul: Celebrating World Environment Day today, the inhabitants of Jindal Nagar pledged to “Beat Plastic Pollution” in their day to day life. Led by JSPL’s Executive Director (i/c) and Location Head Mr. Atul Misra all the participants took an Oath to “Say No to Plastic” during the programme.

JSPL observed World Environment Day in its mega steel plant at Angul in which Environment Rally, Colossal Plantation and prize distribution ceremony were organised. Mr. Misra, flagged off the Environment Rally that witnessed participation of Hundreds of employees with their family, members of Jindal Mahila Samiti (JMS) led by its President Mrs. Anjali Misra, HoDs of various departments and Yoga Guru Swami Satyabindu Saraswati.

On this occasion Mr. Atul Misra, said “Plastic pollution threatens existence of life in this world. at JSPL, we always discourage use plastic. The call for beating plastic pollution in this year’s world environment theme will further strengthen our resolve to make JSPL campus plastic free”. He asked everyone to keep their pledge and shun use of plastic.

The Chairman of JSPL Mr. Naveen Jindal also reached out the mass through different social network sites and asked everyone to pledge to Beat Plastic Pollution and said, “Plaster is chocking our planet, let’s do our part and end Single-use Plastic”.

The EMD department of JSPL organized various activities like Drawing, Essay and Quiz Competition for different age groups of children, employees and house wives to raise awareness about environment pollution. The winners of various competitions were felicitated with certificates and trophies during the programme. More than 500 saplings were planted on the occasion.

At Bhubaneswar, JSPL organised world environment day programme, in which Prof. CR Das, Environmentalist and former Chairman of State Environment Impact Assessment Authority attended as Chief Guest. He spoke about the menaces of Plastic on environment. All the participants took pledge not to use plastic in their day to day life.
