JSPL Foundation dedicates 50k litre overhead water tank to students

Tensa: JSPL Foundation, the CSR arm of Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) on Wednesday dedicated a 50,000 litre capacity overhead water tank to the students of Dengula High School, under Koira block of Sundergarh district.

The reinforced cement concrete (RCC) water tank was inaugurated by Executive Director (Mines & Minerals), JSPL, Shri Ashish Kumar in the presence of teachers and students of the residential school and other company officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Kumar said, “Our company is committed to transforming the lives to make a better society. I am hopeful that that the project will be of great help for the students residing in the school.”

As many as 600 students of the educational institute will get benefit from the water tank, which is built at a cost of Rs 30 lakh.

Shri Pamod Kumar Patra, Unit Head of TRB Iron Ore Mine said, “There was a long-standing demand from the school for such a facility and we have completed it before its scheduled time.”

Appreciating the efforts of the company, Bishnu Charan Mohanty, Headmaster, Dengula High School, said, “’We are thankful to JSPL Foundation for this service of providing drinking water to 600 children in the hostel. It was a long standing need of the students. On behalf of the students, parents and the teachers I express our gratitude to the company”.

JSPL Foundation has been constantly working for the upliftment and social development of the local communities in the region. Besides taking initiatives to improve quality of education in the area, the company has been periodically organizing health awareness campaigns to prevent diseases like Japanese Encephalitis, Acute Encephalitis Syndrome, Diarrhoea, HIV, Cholera, Malaria and vector borne diseases. JSPL’s Vastalya Programme aiming at reduction of MMR and IMR and augmentation of institutional delivery and vaccination is being highly appreciated by the local tribal community and the Administration.
