JK papers bestowed with two safety awards

Report by Badal kumar Tah; Rayagada, September 19: JKPM has been declared as “Winner” of the National Safety Award – 2017 by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India, Organised by the Director General Factories Advice Services and Labour Institute (DGFASLI). This award is in recognition of JK Paper’s Best Safety Performance (Accident Free) for the year 2017 under the category manufacture of paper & paper products, publishing, printing, production of recorded media.

There is one winner and one runner-up in each group of industries as given which has worked the largest number of man-hours, without any fatal/non-fatal accident/total permanent disability during the performance year. Each awardee was presented with a shield and a certificate of merit.

Sri P K Suri, Executive Vice President (Works), JK Paper Mills, Jaykaypur received the National Safety Award for the year 2017 in presence of Mr.L M Rao, DGM-Safety. The award was presented by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Labour & Employment Shri Santosh Gangwar in a glittering function held at Vignyan Bhaban, New Delhi.

To add to the feather of achievements, the Paper Mills was bestowed with another state safety award named Pollution Control Excellence Award-2019 under the category-Industry for adopting effective pollution control measures and sound environmental practices was given by State Pollution Control Board at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.

The award was received by Sri Satyajit Mohanty, GM(EHS) and Sri Priyadarshi Mohapatra, Senior GM(PR) from Sri Bikram Arukh, Minister of Forests and Environment, Govt of Odisha in the presence of Dr.Mona Sharma, Principal Secretary, Forest and Environment, Sri Debidatta Biswal, Member Secretary, Odisha State Pollution Control Board(OSPCB) and other senior officials of OSPCB.

“Both the National and State Awards are certainly encouraging. Though our safety measures, which are one of the best in the country, are in place, these awards will also make JKPM more responsible towards its employees, communities in the vicinity of the industry and the country in general. We have delivered our best in the past and continue to do so in the future”, said P K Suri, Executive Vice President (Works) of J K Paper Mills, Jaykaypur, Rayagada.
