New Delhi: ITC Limited has won the prestigious “Facade

for its landmark project, the ITC Green Centre, Bengaluru. ITC’s projects
division – the Central Projects Organisation bagged the coveted award under
the ‘commercial’ category for Excellence in Façade & Fenestration.

The prestigious Zak Awards 2017 recognized developers, architects and
contractors who have made exemplary contribution to India’s architectural
landscape through best in class design & construction.

The winners for the award were decided through a series of intricate rounds
and the final awardees were chosen in Mumbai by the grand jury comprising
representatives from Hafeez Contractor, Lodha Group, Gleeds, Arup-Singapore
and process advisor Ernst & Young.

Commenting on the recognition, Mr. Chitranjan Dar, Group Head of Research &
Development and Projects, ITC Ltd., said, “Winning this prestigious award
validates ITC’s vision to create exemplary assets that contribute to the
architectural landscape of India. With an array of 24 Green Platinum rated
buildings, ITC has established itself as a global pioneer in energy
efficient and sustainable buildings. Inspired by the credo of Putting India
First, we are proud to have contributed significantly in making India second
only to the US in the green building footprint of the world.”

ITC Green Centre, Bengaluru is a LEED Platinum rated Green Building
pre-certified by the US Green Building Council. It will comprise two towers
with a total built up area of 23 lakh square feet and can accommodate about
10,000 seats. The building is expected to be ready for operation by April
2018.
The façade of the ITC Green Centre building in Bengaluru was conceptualized
by WS Atkins, detailed in design by RSP/Meinhardt and executed by Alufit
India. The east-west orientation of the 202 metre-long building, besides the
use of high performance, low reflectivity glass and extensive solar shading,
will enable energy saving of over 34%, as per the international ASHRAE
standards.

The Zak Award for Excellence in Façade & Fenestration is a major
international competition that celebrates and promotes the country’s best
design and execution in architectural façade and fenestration. The award has
emerged as a focal attraction of the Zak World of Façades – an International
conference series held in several Asian nations on the subject of façade
design & engineering. This year, the Zak awards received over 300 entries
from across the nation and the gala awards ceremony saw a participation of
over 600 delegates.
