Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the state government is making all out efforts to attract investment in various sectors and it is for the first time in the history of the state that a global investor’s meet is being organised. He was presiding over the review meeting on global investors’ meet here today. The meet has been scheduled for 10-11 June, 2019 at Dharamshala.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has created land bank for industrial allocation and information regarding it has been made available on the website of the revenue department. This is a major step which would help the interested entrepreneurs in getting information about the availability of land as per their choice on one click.
He said the decision to organise investor’s meet is biggest initiative of the state government as it would go a long way in attracting investment of thousands of crores in the sectors like tourism, hospitality, resorts, pharmaceutical, information technology, health, herbal and Ayurved based projects, horticulture, power, food processing, real estate and education etc.
The Chief Minister said that the government is endeavouring to harness the immense potential available in different sectors in a planned manner. He said industrial activities got a big boost when special package was given to the state for a short period of time. However, no efforts were made after that for attracting investment. Now, his government has taken this big initiative and desired changes would be made in the state policy to facilitate the investors by simplifying the procedures and other formalities.
Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal has unique culture, peaceful environment and better law and order situation which attract the entrepreneurs and in the coming times the connectivity would also not remain a matter of concern with expansion of railway lines and construction of various four lane national highways.
He asked all the departments to play proactive role for preparation of the investors meet and making all the necessary changes in the procedures to attract the investors.
The Chief Minister launched the website and mobile app of the H.P global investors meet on this occasion.
Chief Secretary B.K Agarwal said that the state team is working hard to make this event a big success. He said that discussions have been held with various states regarding the investors meet. He said road shows would also be organised in major cities of the country and the Chief Minister would also participate in it at Hyderabad and Bangalore.
Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Manoj Kumar gave presentation on the preparations and various activities to be undertaken before the investors meet. Invest India agency and the knowledge partner of the event Ernst and Young also gave their presentations on the meet.
IPH Minister Mahender Singh, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kishan Kapoor, Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Power Minister Anil Sharma, Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Agriculture Minister Dr. Ram Lal Markanda, Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virender Kanwar, Industries Minister Bikram Singh and Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur also participated in the discussion on investor’s meet and gave their valuable suggestions.
Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, head of the departments and representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) which is the national partner for organizing the investors’ meet were also present in the meeting.
