Bhubaneswar: Members of Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of on the city outskirts along the Sundarpada-Jatni Road celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with much pomp and splendour. All the residents of the RWA were present during the much-awaited moment irrespective of their age, groups and gender and were united under the Tricolour.
While beginning the celebration RWA president Nihar Chandra Mallick hoisted the National flag, social worker-cum-activist and a leading member of RWA Banita Patnaik read out a patriotic poem from her own collection to provide a beautiful ambience to the entire gathering on the campus of the housing complex. Members of the RWA also took part in a discussion in which they spoke about the importance of the day and inspired the youngsters to celebrate the occasion just like their birthdays and other major festivals.
Apart from singing the National Anthem in group by elegantly dressed members of the Ladies Wing of the RWA, children also took part in showing their talents before the gathering, which was watched by all the members. Lt Colonel Umakant Mishra also took a major initiative in organising the event on the campus. A cultural show was also organised by the RWA members, which was conceptualised and directed by Banita Patnaik.
