Bhubaneswar: Government of Odisha in partnership with International Fund for Agriculture Development(IFAD) has taken up Odisha PVTG Empowerment & Livelihoods Improvement Programme (OPELIP). This is meant for livelihoods Improvement of 13 Particularly vulnerable Tribal Groups residing in 12
districts covering 89 Gram Panchayats in 1125 villages of the State. The programme is being implemented through 17 Micro Project Agencies with facilitation of NGOs from August 2016. The goal of OPELIP is to improve the living condition and reduction of poverty. The unique features of this programme like
planning, implementation & monitoring are done by the community themselves.
A special Initiative i.e. OPNIP focusing on Health and Nutrition of PVTGs has been initiated by ST & SC Development Department with an aim to improve nutritional status of Women and Children of 13 PVTG Communities in the programme areas of OPELIP. OPNIP has initially been started in three districts in phases i.e. Malkanagiri, Rayagada, Kalahandi covering 06 MPAs and subsequently to other 09 districts covering rest 11 MPAs. The major 03 interventions taken up under OPNIP are Community based creches for children in the 6 months to 3 years age, Spot Feeding Centres (SFC) for children in 3-6 yrs (Pada Pusti Karyakram) and Maternal Spot Feeding Centres for pregnant & lactating mothers (MSFCs).
In this connection on 1st April , 2021, in 4 MPAs i.e. Dongria Kondh Development Agency, Chatikona, Rayagada, Kutia Kondh Development Agency, Lanjigarh, Kalahandi, Didayi Development Agency, Kudumullugumma & Bonda Development Agency, Mudulipada, Malkanagiri a total of 25 nos. of Creches, 24
nos. of Mother Spot Feeding Centre and 4 nos. of Spot Feeding Centres for Children have been inaugurated by different dignitaries. Around 500 nos. of
pregnant, lactating mothers, 500 nos. of 6 months to 3 year children , 100 nos. 3 to 6 year children shall be benefitted from the initiatives inaugurated today.A total
of Collector & DM of Rayagada inaugurated in Rayagada district whereas PD, DRDA of Kalahandi in Kalahandi district ,Sub Collector of Malkanagiri in village
of Bonda Develelopment Agency and Project Officer, DSWO Office, Malkanagiri in village of Didayi Development Agency inaugurated such initiatives. Other dignitaries including PRI Members, District, block, GP officials, Officials of OPELIP, MPAs, supporting organisations i.e. Azim Premji Foundation, Public Health Resource Society remained present in such occasion. Sri P.Arthanri, IFS, Programme Director, OPELIP & OTELP Plus and staff of PMU, OPELIP, Bhubaneswar remained present through virtual mode.
