• Nearly 300 police officials participated in the workshops
Bhubaneswar: ICICI Bank in association with Odisha Police organised a series of workshops for the police officials in prominent cities of Odisha, to enhance their knowledge and understanding in handling cybercrimes and banking frauds. The workshop titled, “Bank Frauds: Prevention and Investigation” was conducted with an objective to share knowledge and expertise to combat the threat of phishing, vishing and online banking related frauds.
Shri Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi, IPS, Additional Director General inaugurated the first workshop in Cuttack. Similar workshops were conducted in prominent cities of Odisha like Rayagada, Sambalpur, Berhampur, Angul, Rourkela and Balasore. Nearly 300 police officials participated in the workshops.
Dr. Sanjay Chougule, Group Chief Internal Auditor and Group Head- Financial Crime Prevention, ICICI Bank said, ”We are happy to share our experiences in prevention and investigation of economic offences with Odisha Police. We have been interacting with and supporting the law enforcement agencies in various states of India for effective police response to banking frauds and crimes. We hope that these workshops in Odisha will be helpful in understanding the various types of banking frauds and cyber-crimes.”
At these workshops, discussions were held through case studies, videos on economic offences and illustrative online transactions. The Bank officials specialised in financial crime prevention and investigations presented insights on-
• Frauds in internet banking, mobile banking and wallets
• Types of credit / debit card frauds and their modus operandi
• Unauthentic alteration and forgery of cheques and demand drafts
