ICAI organizes 10 day Certificate Course on GST

Bhubaneswar: In an attempt to impart extensive study relating to all the detailed technical aspects of Goods and Services Tax, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducted 10 Days Certificate Course on Goods and Services Tax (GST), organised by Indirect Taxes Committee, ICAI, New Delhi during 2nd June to 21st June, 2017. In this programme around 100 numbers of Chartered Accountants from all over the State participated in the Certificate Course and were given training on the various aspects of GST.

The event was inaugurated by CA. Sushil Kumar Goyal, Central Council Member, ICAI and Vice Chairman, Indirect Taxes Committee, ICAI, CA. Rashmi Ranjan Mishra, Chairman, CA. Sugyan Kumar Sahoo, Secretary and CA. Sunil Kumar Sahoo, Past Chairman, Bhubaneswar Branch of ICAI. Various speakers of national repute from across India were present to educate and provide training on various aspects of GST to the participants.
In this 10 day programme various topics on GST were discussed by the experts out of which some of them were Dual-tax method in intra-State trade, Person versus taxable person, Taxable person versus registered person, Non-taxable persons liable to registration – TDS and ISD, Purpose of registration of non-taxable persons like TDS and ISD, Regular and composition registrations – differences and similarities, E-Commerce operator – meaning of ‘as if’ supplier, Supplier through e-commerce operator versus supplier behind e-commerce operator’s brand of services, Job-work and contract manufacturing – consideration present or no and Job-worker’s privilege not to be registered – legal basis and responsibility accepted by Principal.

On 21st June, 2017 the Valedictory session was addressed by Chief Guest Sri Saswat Mishra, IAS, Commissioner of Commercial Tax, Odisha along with other officials of Commercial Tax department, Odisha. During the valedictory session Sri Saswat Mishra, IAS and his team discussed in detail about the regulatory aspects of GST and live return filling under Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act was done by the officials of Commercial Tax Department. Addressing the media, Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Mishra, Chairman of ICAI, Bhubaneswar, said, “ Through this 10 day Certificate course, we have prepared 100 chartered accountant professionals by giving them rigorous training on the various aspects of GST to face the upcoming challenges of GST from July 1”.
