Bhubaneswar: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. is celebrating “Green Consumer Day” today across its 5500+ strong dealer network. Green Consumer Day is celebrated on 28th September 2017 across the world. This global celebration highlights the notions of sustainable development or sustainable consumer behaviour.
Environment has been a point of concern for the whole world. Aligned with Honda’s vision of “Blue Skies for our Children”, we at Honda 2Wheelers India are working tirelessly to keep our environment safe and clean. From creating awareness to introduction of eco-friendly technology (HET- Honda Eco Technology and LRR – Low Resistance Tyres), Honda continues its endeavour to make this world a better place to live and breathe.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Minoru Kato, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “With a vision to contribute towards society, Honda 2Wheelers India is very proactive in conserving the environment around us. All our plants have zero liquid discharge facilities and are equipped with Rain Water Harvesting. The latter has helped us increase the ground water level of the area around our plants. We have also aligned our stakeholders to practice eco-friendly processes in their respective business activity. As a responsible corporate we have taken the opportunity of Green Consumer Day to build awareness amongst the consumers on the golden concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.”
Honda 2Wheelers India dealers, service points and suppliers celebrated the event by distributing saplings and organising various tree plantation drives. Service engineers also educated the customers about ways to reduce fuel consumption. Maintaining correct air pressure and using genuine spare parts & accessories help in increasing fuel economy. Periodic service and riding in the economy range also plays a pivotal role in conserving the environment.
Apart from tree plantations and sapling distribution, dealers also gave eco-friendly LED lights to customers. They were also encouraged to turn off the engines at prolonged traffic lights and not overload their two-wheelers.
Several Honda dealers on Green Consumer Day also championed the cause of ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’ by organising Clean up Drives in the vicinity of their outlets. Awareness drives were also organised in schools on environment conservation. Students also participated in painting competitions on the theme of ‘Clean India, Green India.’
