Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam authorities on Tuesday opened four more sluice gates of the reservoir following the rise in water level due to incessant rain in the upper catchment area.
Earlier in the day, water was being discharged from six gates. Currently, water is being released from a total of ten sluice gates.The water level in Hirakud dam stood at 623.65 feet against the full reservoir level of 630 feet by 6 am on Tuesday. According to sources, the water inflow into the dam is 1,88,672 cusec while water outflow from the reservoir is 1,16,871 cusec. The water level of the reservoir increased due to incessant rain in the district for the last few days.
