Dhenkanal: Eminent author and academician Dr Mrinal Chatterjee’s book Shakti’s Hindi translation has been launched in Odisha on Wednesday.
The book was released by Sahitya Akademi award winner Jitendra Narayan Dash, former principal of Samanta Chandrasekhar College, Puri, today on the sidelines of Dr Radha Nath Rath and Satya Mohapatra Memorial Fellowship award ceremony at Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal. Delhi-based senior journalist Deepshikha Bhattacharyya was also present on the occasion.
Itishree Singh Rathode who presently works in AIR Cuttack, has translated the book from Odia to Hindi.
“The book is a science fiction and it was originally written in Odia about 20 years ago,” said Dr Mrinal Chatterjee. “The story talks about energy production and the dynamics of power-politics. The story is still relevant after two decades.”
The fiction revolves around a maverick scientist, his unique innovation and the diktats of a power-hungry King. It is set in a fictitious state of Bharata.
The English translation of the book has already been done by former Director of IIMC Amaravati and author Nadim Khan.
The Bengali and Asamese translations of Shakti are expected to be released by the end of 2020, informed Dr Chatterjee.
