Bhubaneswar: Hindi fortnight was celebrated from 1st to 15th September in all regional offices and production units of National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) for promoting use of Hindi in day-to-day official work and encouraging the employees to work in Hindi. Hindi Essay, Debate, Noting, Dictation and Quiz Competitions were organised in separate groups of Hindi speaking and Non-Hindi speaking employees. Colorful Poster writing competition was organised among the students. Dr. T.K. Chand, CMD, NALCO graced the Valedictory Ceremony of the Hindi fortnight as the Chief Guest and gave away prizes to the winners of different Hindi competitions. Hindi Day Message of Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Mines, Govt. of India was read. Dr. Chand in his presidential address said “Official Language Hindi is now spreading fast not only in India, but in foreign countries. He said that technical terminologies in simple Hindi should also popularized, which will promote use of Hindi language in technical areas as well. Dr. Chand added that, “NALCO has always been at the forefront of propagating and encouraging the use of Hindi for official communication.” Shri B.K. Thakur, Director (HR) handed over the participating awards and prizes to the winners of Hindi poster-competitions. It may be noted that during the fortnight, several events were organised at the various units of NALCO including a Hindi Hasya Kavi-Sammelan at Damanjodi.
