Hindalco Hirakud Cluster Takes Collaborative Efforts to Combat Covid-19

Bhubaneswar: As a responsible corporate citizen, Hindalco Industries Ltd, the flagship company of Aditya Birla Group, at Hirakud Cluster in Sambalpur district of Odisha, has undertaken several measures to combat Covid-19. While the company has been issuing regular communique to its employees to make them aware of the importance of personal hygiene and self-care, at the same time the team of medicos dedicated to each Unit of the Cluster, is supervising the care of the people employed in the unit at Hirakud, FRP & Aditya Aluminum at Lapanga.
Speaking about the measures undertaken, Mr Rajesh Gupta, the Cluster Head of Hindalco says, “We have ensured strict adherence to all rules and advisories of the Government of India and the Government of the State of Odisha, both inside the plant as well as in its townships at Hirakud &Lapanga. People are not allowed to congregate under any circumstances and movement of people living at its townships has been strictly monitored. The Company has also ensured that essential items are available within the township and it has advised its residents to maintain a 2 Meter distance between each other while buying essential day to day items including medicines, etc.,
He also adds, that at Lapanga & Hirakud, we are regularly disinfecting the market places with bleaching powder and 1%solution of Sodium hypoclorite, marked circles in front of shops to maintain safe distance between the people, provided two ambulances to the Distt. administration to fight Covid-19.
Speaking about the measures undertaken at Aditya Aluminium Lapanga, Mr Gupta says, ´ Along with ASHA and ANM workers the CSR team visited door to door to create awareness on the source of spread, symptoms, prevention as well as its consequences of COVID -19. In coordination with CHC Laida, 35 nos. of awareness programs on COVID-19 has been organized at Derba, Narupada, Badapada, Naikpada, Dhorapani and remote villages along with dissemination of IEC materials, conducting small focus group discussion, door to door visit with SHG members & VDC members covering more than 2500 people in this campaign. We have always encouraged the local communities and have been working with SHG women from the villages nearby to create handmade goods by using the locally available raw-material. And with the spread of Corona Virus, it has now helped them to develop masks at Khadiapalli village and around 3000 masks are being made and provided to the District administration for use.
Regularly we are taking sincere efforts to safeguard not only our staff and people in the townships but also the community and people in the surrounding villages, as their safety and good health is our prime importance and we will continue this to combat Covid-19 collectively, Mr Gupta adds.
