Mercury above 40 degrees Celsius in 15 places in Odisha, including Bhubaneswar (40.8); Titlagarh hottest at 44.5 degC. For the second consecutive day on Wednesday, Titilagarh was the hottest place at 44.5 degree Celsius. However, the temperature in the State capital which had remained below 40 degree Celsius till date soared to 40.8 degree on Wednesday. On Tuesday the city had recorded a temperature of 39.8 degree.
Titilagarh recorded the highest temperature of 44.5 degree Celsius, followed by Angul (44.1), Hirakud (43.8), Talcher (44.2), Bhawanipatna (43.5), Sambalpur (43.5), Jharsuguda (43.3), Sundargarh (43), Malkangiri (42.5), Sonepur (42), Baripada (42), Keonjhar (41), Bhubaneswar (40.8), Phulbani (40.6) and Chandbali (40.3).
On Tuesday, 16 towns had recorded above 40 degree Celsius while Titlagarh recorded the highest temperature of 45.5 degree.
The Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here forecasted that the prevailing heat wave would prevail for next two to three days, and rains on April 28 and 29 might provide some respite.
