Freedom Fighters from Odisha felicitated by Chief Resident Commissioner

New Delhi: Mr. Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chief Resident Commissioner, Government of Odisha, New Delhi felicitated two Freedom Fighters from Odisha namely Shri Sahadeb Behera (96 years) and Shri Nilamani Samal (90 years) on 8th August, 2019 at Odisha Bhawan. The Freedom Fighters have been invited to the “AT HOME” Reception being hosted by Hon’ble President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan on 9th August, 2019 Sri Behera, who hails from Nayagarh district and Shri Samal, who belongs to Jajpur district, had participated actively in the Indian freedom struggle especially during Quit India Movement.
During the felicitation today, the veterans shared their glorious memories of freedom struggle. Their inspiring words and experience filled the audience with pride and sense of patriotism. Sri Behera’s patriotic songs were widely appreciated. Like previous years, “AT HOME” reception has been organized to commemorate the anniversary of the “Quit India Movement” of the Indian freedom struggle. Freedom Fighters from all parts of the country are invited to Rashtrapati Bhawan to attend the “AT HOME” Reception.
The State Government has extended all facilities for lodging and boarding of the Freedom Fighters in Odisha Niwas by declaring them as State Guests. The
Freedom Fighters were given a warm welcome by the Office of the Chief Resident Commissioner on their arrival at Odisha Niwas on 07.08.2019. All arrangements
have been made for their visit to Rashtrapati Bhawan on 9.8.2019 to attend the AT HOME reception hosted by Hon’ble President of India.
